Tackling food insecurity and malnutrition: Reflections from the Nutritalks panel
Oct 22 2025
Yesterday, I attended an open panel discussion at the Royal Society, London, hosted by MyNutriWeb Nutritalks, focusing on food insecurity and malnutrition in the UK. Nutritalks, a series of “conversations for change,” aims to deliver a 10-point roadmap to government to tackle malnutrition – a bold and idealistic proposal. Yet what struck me most wasn’t just the ambition of the plan, but the human urgency behind it.
Don’t Wake Me Up (Before 6)! Parent-Proofing the Clock Change
Oct 22 2025
Ah, that magical time of year again – the clocks go back this Sunday (26th October), and while most people dream of an extra hour in bed, parents everywhere know the truth: it usually means the exact opposite. Forget lazy lie-ins – during clock change many mums will be up at 5am, bleary-eyed and clutching a coffee, as little ones cheerfully announce, “Morning, Mummy!”. The end of daylight saving might seem like a small change, but even a one-hour shift can send babies’ and toddlers’ internal clocks into chaos. Their bodies still think it’s time to wake, eat, or play long before you’re ready to. The good news? With a few clever tricks, you can help your mini early bird ease gently into the new routine – and save yourself from zombie status come Monday morning.

For a family-friendly Halloween in London, consider theme parks like Chessington World of Adventures, or historical sites such as the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace, which offer spooky but appropriate events. Other options include attractions like London Zoo’s “Boo at the Zoo,” the Warner Bros. Studio Tour’s Dark Arts event, and family-friendly light trails and workshops at Kew Gardens or the Natural History Museum.
Halloween at Kenwood House: A Spooktacular night to remember
Oct 18 2025
This Friday 17th October, I went to Kenwood House for the opening of their Halloween at Kenwood Trail, and I have to say – it was truly spooky! Even the little ones were scared!
For me, the fright actually started before I even arrived… I decided to take the woodland path to reach the house, and suddenly it was pitch black. I honestly felt like Little Red Riding Hood wandering through the dark woods – scaaarryyyy!
Once inside the grounds, I was greeted by a magical and eerie atmosphere. The sounds, the lights, and the decorations were absolutely superb – every detail perfectly crafted to give you a little shiver. But the headless horse-riding knight in a flowing black cape stole the show – chillingly brilliant!
