Art exhibition show: ‘Pile ‘o’ Shite’ by Andy Link Aka47

Feb 04 2022

Recently I visited the latest solo show by the conceptual artist Andy Link, also known as AK47. This show is being held in the Graffic Gallery in Portobello Road,  and is due to run for two weeks,  from 7-9pm every evening until 17th February.

Conceptual Art is less about the artistry of the works themselves,  and more about the back story evoked by them. In this sense, Andy has produced some well conceived pieces that are intended to mirror some of the themes of his own life. The thread that connects each piece is the juxtaposition of a heart shaped mirror, that ubiquitous symbol of love, with a single word, taken from the language of the street and spelled out in bullets. Some of the pieces are adorned by neon tubes, emitting a soft pink glow, which gives a theatricality to counter the brutality evoked by the bullets. Other pieces are not directly lit, but their mirrored backgrounds reflect the light of the room, which then casts a distorted heart onto the floor, and now the bullets on the installation show up,  not as bullets, but as a row of shadow birds singing on a telephone line. As with all Conceptual Art, the viewer should make of this what he or she will, but the effect is brilliant.

yule log

Get your hands on the best yule log, ever made by myself and Monica Costa with the help of no other than The Great British Bake Off 2016 finalist Andrew Smyth. This master baker with his precision engineering helped a group of London Mums in a baking master class.

Our afternoon was set at a gorgeous cooking school called Enrica Rocco cooking school in Notting Hill.

This idyllic setting made it perfect for Canon to promote PowerShot PX where beautiful videos and pictures were captured by ‘Pixie‘.

London Mums take Christmas-themed cookery classes: tips and recipes

Dec 23 2021

London Mums were invited to attend a cooking class with Tesco’s top chef – Jamie – assisted by Adam. The purpose of the class was to offer up a few tips for Christmas favourites.

On arrival we were greeted by Dags, who was very cheerful and gave us a small tour of the cooking premises, located close to Holloway Road Tube station – the preparation area consisted of half a dozen cooking stations, each with an electric induction heater and all the required ingredients already set out in small dishes.

La Clique show review

Nov 20 2021

Oh boy, what a night! La Clique is a unique and inspirational night of entertainment. This production went beyond my expectations with the brilliant live band La Clique Palais Orkestra and a melange of circus and cabaret favourites, performing in the beautiful mirrored Leicester Square Spiegeltent. The acts all had every audience member engaged with them. This is a spectacular festive show set within Leicester Square which I highly recommend you see. I went with a friend and we were gasped by every act. We joined in with the clapping and felt very engaged throughout. Make it a memorable night and watch La Clique!
