Blu-Ray review: Wild Orchid starring Mickey Rourke, Jacqueline Bisset and Carre Otis

Mar 29 2016

In 1989 when Wild Orchid was released I was just 19 and this was the very first sexy film I watched. Compared to any movie released these days (without even being labelled erotic) in Wild Orchid sex scenes are really minimal and not so explicit but the eroticism from this film comes from the implicit lust that emerges from the dialogues and the looks. From director Zalman King (Red Shoe Diaries, Two Moon Junction) Wild Orchid, recently released on Blu-ray in a Dual Format (Blu-ray & DVD) edition for the first time in the UK, is a tale of sex, passion and erotic taboos set against the backdrop of the rich and powerful.

Film Heads Up: ROBINSON CRUSOE (6 May 2016)

Mar 27 2016

StudioCanal have just unveiled the very first trailer and poster for brand new family film ROBINSON CRUSOE, which arrives on UK shores with May Bank Holiday 6 May 2016. From the makers of The House of Magic and A Turtle’s Tale, ROBINSON CRUSOE seems to be a fun-filled adventure in eye-popping 3D for the whole family to enjoy. We cannot wait to see the bunch of all these adorable animals on an exotic desert island on the big screen. It will be great for our kids to learn about this story which parents grew up with (or at least I did). When I was a young girl, the only film about Robinson Crusoe was by Luis Buñuel from 1954. It was time for an animation movie to cover this adventure in a more child friendly way.

Film Heads Up: FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS starring Meryl Streep & Hugh Grant (6 May 2016)

Mar 22 2016

From the look of it, May 2016 will be remembered for one of the months with most film releases this year. There’s one film in particular that caught my eye, FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS from acclaimed British director Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen) and starring Oscar winner Meryl Streep alongside British icon Hugh Grant and The Big Bang Theory’s hilarious Simon Helberg. This is the type of feel good film that London Mums need to relax after an intense week with children’s routines. I bet I will love it not just for the extraordinary cast but also for the inspiring true story of the self confident (I’d say overconfident at times) New York socialite who pursues her dreams. FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS will be released in UK cinemas 6th May 2016.
