While The Mouse House takes something of a breather before the release of Finding Dory next month, non-Disney animation is filling the breach. Last week it came from Japan with When Marnie Was There and Universal’s The Secret Life Of Pets arrives on the 24th. Sandwiched in between them is the French/Danish co-production, Long Way North, which opens this Friday, 17th June, certificate PG.

London Mums have often written about dogs in films because we LOVE our canine friends! When a new film is announced featuring a dog as a protagonist we cannot resist digging in our archives … Whether they’re causing havoc like Beethoven, or on a quest to get home like Bolt, dogs in films have always been a family favourite. The newest canine to grace our screens is Oddball, the star in Oddball and The Penguins, based on the incredible true story of how a mischievous but loveable Maremma sheepdog became the unlikely guardian and saviour of an endangered colony of Little Penguins in a small coastal town in Australia.
