London Mums’ contributor Jo Mackeson attended Cages, a new show at Riverside Studios and sent me her review:

West End show review: German Cornejo’s Tango After Dark at Peacock Theatre 11-22 October 2022

Monica Costa and tango after dark dancer Gisela Galeassi posing for mums magazine
Breathtaking. Sexy. Timeless. I am certainly biased because I dance tango and I love Argentina, but Tango After Dark has to be the most spectacular tango show on the planet right now. Following the success of Wild Tango back in May,  World Tango Champion German Cornejo returns to Peacock Theatre (Sadler Wells) with his superb dance company.

His new choreography is based on traditional Argentine tango. Accompanied by two sensational singers and seven musicians playing the great tango composer Astor Piazzolla’s Nuevo Tango, which creates a powerfully sensual atmosphere, these ten world-class Argentinean dancers including Gisela Galeassi will keep your passion for tango burning deep into the night.
The dance company is based in  Buenos Aires so this is a unique opportunity to see the show before it continues its world tour.

TATE Modern review: Cecilia Vicuña’s hanging mobiles 11 October 2022-16 April 2023

Think giant Jurassic jellyfish meets Miss Havisham’s wedding dress (in Dickens’ Great expectations) meets spring-look Dementor meets Mudlarker’s bathroom shelf … I know, right? What IS one supposed to think?

The artist, a quietly-spoken, petite lady with long plaits, and the curator were thankfully on hand to demystify. It turned out this wasn’t abstract make-of-it-what-you-like-type art. It was an exercise in symbolism.
