Toys | Weekly Photography Challenge

Jun 14 2013

This weekly photo challenge is deigned to complement our free online photography basics classes. Each week we will set a different theme and your homework is to go out and photograph a collection of images related to that theme.

You can start this challenge whenever you like and do the different themes in any order you see fit. Think of these challenges as a photography workout. Don’t just do them once and not revisit them. If you do start these challenges as you begin our online basics classes then in a few months why not revisit older challenges to see how much better a photographer you have become.

Jun 13 2013

Luke: “Nanny, what’s that?

Nanny: “that’s my elbow”

L: “It’s all stripy”

N: “Stripy?” looks at elbow “oh yes, that’s Nanny’s skin. When you get older your skin gets a bit saggy and goes a bit stripy like Nanny’s”

L: “Is my elbow stripy”

N: “No, yours is nice and springy”

Luke, pressing elbow with index finger: “Yes mine is springy, not stripy like yours”

What lenses should I be using? | Photography Basics

Jun 12 2013

A good lens is more valuable than a good camera body and will certainly outlive it. That statement is certainly true but what I’m not suggesting is that you blow your budget on glass* early on. In all honesty buy the best lenses you can afford and build up your collection slowly. But I guess you’re wondering what type of lenses are the best?
