London Mums‘ young reporters attended a special show at Riverside studios welcoming Winnie The Pooh The Musical along with familiar faces Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Tigger, Owl and Rabbit.
Pooh Bear is a fictional teddy bear with human traits created by English author A. A. Milne and English illustrator E. H. Shepard.
Winnie The Pooh The Musical is about Pooh Bear, Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Tigger, Rabbit and Owl as they go on new adventures. At its simplest, Winnie the Pooh The Musical is about Pooh hunting for honey and having some small adventures with his friends along the way.
This is a family show with wonderful puppeteering. The large replicas of the Disney characters helped the puppeteers to disappear and the characters come alive. As a purist I would have preferred versions of Shepherds original drawings, however that does not detract from the magic of the production. The staging had all the recognisable characteristics of the 100 acre wood, including Owl ‘s House and the Bridge from which to play Pooh sticks. Pooh getting stuck on his honey hunt was beautifully done with charm and humour. The details of the extras such as bees , butterflies and frogs were charming. Even tiny children had their attention held.
Winnie The Pooh The Musical is highly recommended for gentle family entertainment.
