If Twickenham ever needed another reason to call itself one of Britain’s unofficial music capitals, it certainly got one. On 21 November 2025, the UK’s very first School of Rock London opened its doors right in TW1 – the very neighbourhood where giants like The Rolling Stones, The Who, Queen, and ELO carved out music history.
It was only fitting, then, that the launch party felt less like an opening night and more like stepping straight into a backstage jam session. Real amps, real musicians, real energy – and a whole lot of goosebumps.

And yes… I somehow ended up singing “Every Breath You Take” in an impromptu duet with the fabulous Liliana Upegui, School of Rock’s unstoppable marketing force. Completely unrehearsed. Completely chaotic. Completely perfect. It’s going straight into my personal highlight reel.
But beyond the glitter of opening night, there’s something genuinely meaningful growing here – and it deserves a closer look.
More Than a Music School: A Global Family Arrives in TW1
School of Rock isn’t your typical after-school class. With over 400 schools worldwide, it has built a reputation for turning even the shyest beginner into a confident performer – through its patented, performance-based approach to music education.
Now, London families finally have their own branch.
And what makes it special?

1. It’s for everyone — really everyone
From toddlers who can barely reach the piano keys to teens dreaming of forming a band to adults who’ve always wanted to pick up a guitar at 40 – everyone has a place. The atmosphere is wonderfully democratic: if you love music, you belong.
2. The patented School of Rock Method
This isn’t just “learn a song and go home”. The School of Rock Method is U.S. patented, refined over 25+ years and built around:
- performance-led learning
- the School of Rock Method App
- Method Books
- their “SongFirst” approach
- weekly private lessons + group rehearsals
It’s structured, it’s creative, and it works – their global success speaks for itself.
3. Camps, workshops, and real gigs
Throughout the year, the Twickenham school will offer:
- school holiday camps
- summer programmes
- workshops for every instrument (guitar, bass, drums, keyboard/piano, vocals)
- and even support for young musicians entering the music business, from copyright to branding.
Then there’s the performance element: every student, even beginners, eventually gets placed in a band and performs at a real live show. London kids on London stages – that’s powerful.
4. Adults get to rock out too
Their Adult Programme is a proper gem.
Weekly lessons, weekly rehearsals, and an actual adult band formed from scratch.
It’s musical therapy, fitness for the brain, and a confidence boost all in one.
Let’s Talk Honestly: The Fees
School of Rock offers serious training – and the prices reflect that commitment.
Compared to standard after-school music lessons, the fees are definitely on the higher end, s I found out from the founders and shareholders themselves very honestly. Families should be prepared for an investment that goes beyond a simple weekly class. You’re not paying just for instruction, but for:
- a patented curriculum
- structured band rehearsals
- professional-grade gear
- real public performances
- experienced instructors
- digital learning tools
- community events and showcases
For families who want a deep, immersive music experience for their children (or themselves), the cost can feel justified. But it’s important to acknowledge that this level of training is not inexpensive and may require budgeting.
That said, the passion, quality and structure are hard to fault – and the value comes in the confidence, discipline, friendships and joy the students gain as they grow into real musicians.
Launch Night: A Taste of What’s to Come
The students already enrolled brought the house down.
Tiny drummers with the stage presence of seasoned pros.
Teen guitarists shredding like they were born holding a Fender.
Vocalists who made the walls shake.
The school may be new, but the talent is already simmering.
There was a sense of witnessing the start of something big, not just for Twickenham, but for the UK music-education scene.
Expensive? Yes. Electric? Absolutely.
School of Rock London–Twickenham is bold, ambitious and bursting with potential. The launch showed us:
- the talent is real
- the method works
- the energy is infectious
- the community is welcoming
- and London families now have access to a world-renowned music programme on their doorstep
The fees may be high, and it won’t be for every budget — but for families who can commit, the experience is transformative. It’s a place where music becomes confidence, community, identity, and joy.
Twickenham has always had rock in its bones.
Now it has a school to match.
