What's On

The World’s Longest Tiramisù raised £3,000 before it even started

Most fundraising events promise to change the world. Most of them also involve a sponsored silence or a sponsored run, which sounds suspiciously like actual effort. This one involves mascarpone.

Before you’ve even had time to wonder whether you can justify attending a two-day Italian food festival, The Longest Tiramisù has already banked over £3,000 for the Esharelife Foundation. No sponsorships. No painful exercise. Just people buying tickets to a dessert-based spectacle that hasn’t even happened yet.

If that’s not a sign you’re onto something, I don’t know what is.

The longest tiramisu TRAY SLICE

Maurizio Bragagni OBE, Chairman of Esharelife, said something about shared responsibility and solidarity. Which is all very noble. But what he really meant is: enough people thought “you know what, I’d pay to watch a giant tiramisù get built” that vulnerable communities will now get tangible help with education and dignified futures.

Solidarity tastes like coffee and cream, apparently.

A Charity that skips the middleman

Esharelife is the kind of charity that makes you want to double-check your bank account for spare change. They work with local organisations already on the ground, funding education, vocational training, and healthcare where it’s actually needed. No vague promises. No admin-heavy fluff.

Just practical, sustainable interventions that help people help themselves.

And this tiramisù? It’s a bridge between “I went to a fun event” and “I accidentally contributed to lasting social change.” You show up, eat something delicious, watch a world record unfold, and somewhere in the background, a child gets access to education or an adult gets the tools to build an independent life.

Not bad for a dessert.

What to expect (besides Mascarpone overload)

Saturday, April 25 – Italian Expo (Free Entry)
Doors open at 10:00 AM. Italian brands. Tastings. Show-cooking. Talks. Basically, a day spent pretending you’re on holiday in Tuscany, except you’re in Chelsea and can still use your Oyster card.

Evening brings live music:

  • Chiara Nova
  • Italian Radio Society
  • The Ed Sheeran Experience

Because nothing says “authentic Italian” like a British bloke singing “Shape of You” with an acoustic guitar. We love it.

Sunday, April 26 – The main event (Ticket Holders Only)
10:00 AM: watch the construction of the world’s longest tiramisù. This is not a metaphor. They are physically assembling a dessert of record-breaking proportions.

2:00 PM: official measurement.
3:00 PM: Guinness World Record certification. You can tell your children you were there. They will not care. Tell them anyway.

From 4:00 PM: distribution of tiramisù slices and trays to all ticket holders. This is not a drill. You get to eat the evidence.

Getting there

Chelsea Old Town Hall

  • From Earl’s Court: bus 328 to World’s End, then routes 11 / 22 / 19
  • From Sloane Square: buses 11 / 22 / 19 / 319, stop Chelsea Old Town Hall

Plan your route. Bring patience. The only thing longer than the tiramisù might be the queue for the loo.

A record to break, a community to unite, and a cause to support

This is one of those rare events where you can show up for the spectacle and accidentally do something meaningful. The funds are already making a difference. The mascarpone is waiting. The Guinness judges are probably sharpening their tape measures.

So buy a ticket. Bring a friend. Watch a dessert make history.

Because sometimes sweetness really does make a difference. And sometimes, that difference comes with a side of ladyfingers and a well-earned glass of wine.
