London Mums take Christmas-themed cookery classes: tips and recipes

London Mums were invited to attend a cooking class with Tesco’s top chef – Jamie – assisted by Adam. The purpose of the class was to offer up a few tips for Christmas favourites.

On arrival we were greeted by Dags, who was very cheerful and gave us a small tour of the cooking premises, located close to Holloway Road Tube station – the preparation area consisted of half a dozen cooking stations, each with an electric induction heater and all the required ingredients already set out in small dishes.

Avocado recipes

June is World Avocado Month! The UK is the second-largest market for avocados in Europe, with over 6,000 avocados sold hourly. I certainly contribute to this figure.

To celebrate this versatile fruit – because avocado is a fruit – I have received extracts of two recipes from the latest free cookbook from the World Avocado Organization, Avocados in Bloom, which I am sharing here as these meals are easy and nutritious. In this book there are enough meals ideas without ever repeating a recipe.

Breakfast Recipe: Vanilla Berry French Toast

This Vanilla Berry French Toast recipe was created by plant-based food blogger and stylist, Nourishing Amy, in partnership with Jason’s Sourdough (available in three variants, White, Grains & Seeds and Craft Beer, from M&S stores nationwide, RRP £1.80). This bread evokes memories of my childhood and the mornings spent at the beach after eating fresh sourdough slices with jam on top. This bread is a time machine of the senses.

Amy has used Jason’s Sourdough fluffy White Ciabattin and naturally-sweetened with maple syrup. This nutritious toast tastes so good that we’d be forgiven for forgetting that this yummy breakfast was vegan! Bursting with flavour, it is indeed the perfect breakfast recipe to start the day in style or even for a delicious weekend brunch with family and friends.
