Film review: Minions – The Rise Of Gru

When life hands you lemons, turn them into minions. The Minions movie in 2015 which separated the wholesome hoard from Gru was entertaining and allowed them to shine in their own light, having deservedly stolen the show in the Despicable Me films.

There’s a satisfaction in this latest film of seeing them reunited, or perhaps pre-united, and the writers nicely balance the ingredients of their loyal, not too bright, henchmen support with the charmingly fractious junior Gru. Minions – The Rise Of Gru lands in cinemas on 1st July 2022.

Film review: Elvis starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks

As a huge fan of Elvis Presley, I could have never imagined anyone interpreting my idol. But yet in new biopic Elvis, energetic young actor, Austin Butler, seemed almost possessed by the spirit of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and made me feel emotional as if Elvis would still be alive. Read my review here to find out why I believe Elvis is the best movie of the past decade. It will be released nationwide on 24th June 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Film review: Disney’s Lightyear starring Chris Evans

If you put Toystory, Star Wars and Back to the Future in a blender, what comes out is Pixar’s new animation Lightyear.  Three years after the release of Toy Story 4, Buzz Lightyear is back. Pixar has never really disappointed me and this spin-off is possibly the best animation that has come out of the Disney family in the past three years. A must-watch for the whole family. If you ignore the fact that it’s an animation, Lightyear could easily be an action film for grown ups. It flies into cinemas on 17 June 2022.
