If you love books and storytelling the place to be and to be seen this week was most certainly Kensington Gardens Serpentine Gallery at the annual lavish party hosted by a newly merged Penguin Random House Publishing. London Mums Editor Monica Costa and I felt it was such a treat mingling with some of Britain’s best authors and illustrators of the like of Jeremy Strong (the Hundred Mile dog series), Sally Green (Half Bad, Half Lies, Half Wild), Julia Donaldson (Room on the Broom,The Gruffalo’s Child, Charlie Cook’s Favorite Book, The Gruffalo), Lauren Child (Charlie & Lola), Sherley Hughes (Alfie’s feet), Robin Stevens (the Murder Most Unladylike Mysteries series), Laura Dockrill (Echoes) and many others.

As Jeremy Strong put it with his cunning sense of humour, it would have been great if the merged publishers had called themselves Random Penguin instead of Penguin Random House.
