Film review: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Days are getting chillier and a family trip to the cinema is a great alternative to having the the house trashed with crazy indoor entertainment. Disney comes to the rescue with this comedy that will probably remain memorable for its least memorable title Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

BAD DAY – Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Zoey/Elise Vargas, Kerris Dorsey, Dylan Minnette and Ed Oxenbould portray a family enduring a very bad day in the heartfelt and hilarious big-screen adaptation of Judith Viorst’s 1972 children’s book. “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” hits theaters Oct. 10, 2014. The story

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day takes ‘having a bad day’ to a whole new level! Starring Steve Carell (Anchorman, Despicable Me, Evan Almighty), Jennifer Garner, Ed Oxenbould, Dylan Minnette, Kerris Dorsey and Bella Thorne, this film follows the unfortunate exploits of the Cooper family as they endure a hilariously disastrous day, in which everything that can go wrong does go wrong. As each member of the family encounters their own calamities, they rally together and realize that sometimes you need to have the bad days in order to appreciate the good.

The verdict

This movie follows Disney’s trail of regular hilariously disastrous films we have seen over the years. It is indeed funny and less obvious than other stories of the same kind. Kids had a real laugh at the calamities happening to the poor Coopers and mums could relate to some of the parents’ daily challenges. It is not a blockbuster and it won’t be remembered in the history of Disney as the best movie ever. However it is funny enough to be worth a trip to the cinema on a Sunday afternoon. Just don’t go in there with great expectations and you’ll enjoy it.
