London Attraction Review: THE ART OF THE BRICK – DC SUPER HEROES (1 March – 3 September 2017)

London Mums, don’t miss  The Art of the Brick: DC Super heroes. DC’s most iconic super heroes and super villains have just arrived to London thanks to renowned Lego artist Nathan Sawaya who has created the World’s Largest LEGO® Exhibition using more than two million Lego bricks inspired by Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Sawaya gave up his job as a lawyer in New York years ago to totally dedicate himself to Lego art. Since then his creations using children’s building bricks have become famous around the world.

The Art of the Brick: DC Super heroes exhibition is located in a purpose-built tent, at South Bank’s Doon Street Car Park just minutes away from Waterloo Station. London Mums extensively covered his The Art of the Brick first London exhibition in 2014 . It was love at first brick.

DC Comics fans will love to watch the details of the 120 original artworks featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, as well as their arch rivals the Joker and Harley Quinn.

Watch my vlog filmed from the exhibition where I am taking you around the artworks for a very first exclusive look. In this video you can see Nathan introducing the event and providing a useful insight into his work.

Through a series of immersive galleries, THE ART OF THE BRICK: DC SUPER HEROES showcases Sawaya’s interpretations on characters, vehicles, environments and themes found throughout DC Super Heroes mythology including transformation and reinvention, strength and weakness, as well as good vs. evil. The best piece of the collection is the last shown, the Batmobile (5.5 meters) built from half a million standard pieces.  Sawaya has captured on a real scale some of the most iconic Super Heroes and Super-Villains from DC, exploring more than 80 years of history.

To kids and adults who love LEGO, Sawaya is a bit of a super hero. For the last decade, the former lawyer- turned- artist has elevated the simple toy to highly sought-after artwork, and has inspired countless kids to think outside of the box.
