Science Box is a fantastic one-day summer workshop in London for 11-14 year olds to get ahead in science. Students taking part in this rainforest themed workshop will get a national science award accredited by the British Science Association.
The fun workshop goes far beyond the key stage 3 national curriculum – students will make synthetic rubber, research the cure for cancer, learn about medicinal plants, and debate the future of the rainforest and indigenous communities. It’s delivered by London’s top science educators, STEM ambassadors and the Young Scientist of the Year. Students will also design an education pack encourage sustainability which will be delivered to real communities in the Peruvian Amazon through our partner charity, the CREES foundation.
Science Box was founded by a young entrepreneur, Deepesh Patel, who is bringing his programme to two schools in SE London.
Having recently returned from a trip to the Peruvian Amazon, Deepesh, who was selected for the New Entrepreneurs Foundation programme last year, has become intent on demonstrating to young children across the country that science, in reality, goes far beyond laboratories, formulae and, as he puts it, “wearing white lab coats”. Science Box is a series of interactive science-based workshops for 11-14 year olds in London.
Bookings are now open for Science Box’s two forthcoming ‘Rainforest Uncovered’ events in London, which take place on Monday 21st July at the Dunraven School in Lambeth.

About the team
The team have worked with over 600 students at around 40 schools in the past, exciting young people about science. The management include the Young Engineer of the Year, and the brains behind the UK’s largest science, technology, engineering and mathematics event – the Big Bang Fair.
Deepesh Patel, CEO of Science Box travelled to the Peruvian Amazon and has spent years developing education programmes and teaching young people about the rainforest.
