Handel Hendrix House, nestled in the heart of Mayfair, unveils a magical experience every Friday evening with its After Dark series, running until 23 February, 2024. This historic dual-residence, once home to classical genius George Frideric Handel and rock icon Jimi Hendrix, comes alive during these enchanting hours.

Hans Holbein the Younger, a German artist of remarkable talent, made a significant impact on Tudor England during the 16th century. The current exhibition, ‘Holbein at the Tudor Court,’ hosted at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, serves as a captivating chronicle of his time in Tudor England.

Upon arriving in 1526, Holbein’s artistic endeavours began with portraits of influential figures such as Thomas More, showcasing his ability to capture intimate moments with his subjects. The exhibition, meticulously curated and featuring over 100 works drawn from the Royal Collection, provides a chronological narrative of Holbein’s rise to prominence as the king’s painter.

The evening featured a performance of his 14 hits along with engaging conversations with English lyricist Sir Timothy Rice. They reminisced about their time at EMI Records and shared highlights from Sir Richard’s illustrious career. Personally, I would have preferred more time dedicated to the music, but it seemed the audience was quite intrigued by the behind-the-scenes stories.
