On Saturday 14th December, families gathered at the Royal Academy of Dance for a delightful performance of The Nutcracker by Let’s All Dance, a company renowned for its ability to bring the beauty of classical ballet to younger audiences. With a condensed running time, vibrant costumes, and enchanting choreography, this production proved to be a perfect introduction to ballet, captivating young children and adults alike. I’d call it the essential Nutcracker for its basic setting and simplicity of the backdrops and choreography.
From the moment the show began, it was clear that Let’s All Dance has mastered the art of making ballet accessible to all ages. The story of Clara and her magical journey with the Nutcracker Prince was told with crystal-clear narrative precision, ensuring even the youngest audience members could follow along. At just the right length for small attention spans, the performance retained all the magic of the original, skilfully condensing the tale without sacrificing its charm.
