Sky Lagoon sits just outside Reykjavik, and the geothermal spa sells four main package tiers, each with different perks that change the price by anywhere from a few thousand to tens of thousands of Icelandic krona. Picking the wrong one means either overpaying for extras that go unused or missing out on something that would have made the visit noticeably better. Knowing what separates each tier before booking online makes the decision much simpler.

Understand the Base Tiers First
Sky Lagoon offers two entry-level tiers: Saman and Sér. Saman covers lagoon access, the seven-step Skjól ritual, a towel, and access to the public changing rooms. Sér includes all of that plus a private changing suite with its own shower and amenities, which matters most to travelers who value privacy or are visiting after a long flight.
The price difference between Saman and Sér typically runs about 3,000 to 4,000 ISK per person. For a solo traveler or someone comfortable with communal locker rooms, Saman covers everything necessary. For couples or families who want to avoid shared shower stalls, Sér tends to be worth the upgrade.
Factor in Food and Drink Add-Ons
Beyond the two base tiers, Sky Lagoon sells packages that bundle in dining. The Sky Lagoon for Two option pairs Sér access with a shared platter and two drinks at the in-water Gelmir Bar or the Keimur Café, aimed at couples who want a slower, more social visit. This tier costs more upfront but often works out cheaper than paying separately for lagoon entry and a meal afterward.
If dinner reservations are already planned elsewhere, skip the food-inclusive tiers and stick with Saman or Sér. Ordering a la carte at the in-lagoon bar is simple enough and avoids paying for a meal that might go unused.
Decide Whether Private Changing Rooms Matter
Sér’s private suites are one of the most requested upgrades, and for good reason. Each suite includes a shower with Sky Lagoon’s own product line, a private toilet, and a locking door, which removes the need to shuffle between shared showers and lockers with wet feet and a crowd of other visitors.
Families traveling with young children often find Sér worth the extra cost simply for the logistics of managing towels, swimsuits, and a toddler in one enclosed space. Solo travelers or groups of friends who don’t mind communal facilities can save the money and choose Saman instead.
Consider Timing-Based Packages for Couples
For anyone planning a romantic evening or an anniversary trip, Sky Lagoon periodically promotes a Sky Lagoon package deal built specifically around sunset or evening bookings, pairing lagoon access with food and drink service timed to Iceland’s long summer dusk or winter darkness over the water. These slots sell out faster than standard daytime bookings, so reserving several weeks ahead is smart during peak tourist months between June and August.
Evening bookings also tend to be quieter, since large tour groups typically visit earlier in the day. That alone makes the later time slots appealing even without the added dining perks.
Match the Package to the Season
Winter visits change the calculation somewhat. Between November and March, the lagoon’s outdoor infinity-edge pool overlooking the ocean becomes a major draw for aurora viewing, and Sér’s private changing suite becomes more valuable simply because stepping outside in cold, wet hair is far less pleasant than doing so in summer.
Summer visitors, by contrast, often find Saman perfectly comfortable since the outdoor temperature makes the shared facilities less of an issue. Booking a summer daytime slot with Saman and adding food a la carte is usually the most budget-friendly combination.
Book Directly Through Sky Lagoon’s Website
Third-party booking sites sometimes list Sky Lagoon tickets bundled with transportation or other Reykjavik attractions, but pricing transparency is better when booking directly. The official site clearly lists what’s included in each tier, updates availability in real time, and allows free cancellation up to 24 hours before the scheduled visit, which matters given how often Icelandic weather and travel plans shift.
Comparing the official tiers side by side before adding any transportation package also avoids confusion about what’s actually included. Some tour bundles quietly downgrade guests to Saman even when a Sér experience was expected.
The right package comes down to two questions: how much privacy is worth paying for, and whether food and drink should be part of the visit or handled separately. Answering those honestly, rather than defaulting to the most expensive tier out of habit, leads to a booking that actually matches how the visit will unfold.
